American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Itβs so nice to find an ice cream spot in downtown Raleigh that has so many vegan options! We tried the non-dairy soft serve and got one with cookie butter dip and Oreo topping and one with peanut butter dip. Both were delicious and hit the spot on a hot day. We canβt wait to come back to try some other flavors!

We recently visited Simon Says Dip This for the first time and had a fun experience overall. The location is great, with a nice outdoor area where kids can play while enjoying their treats. Just be aware that street parking is somewhat limited, especially during busy times. The staff was friendly, patient, and helpful as we navigated the menu for our first visit. We ordered two dipped cones (one regular and one kid-sized) and spent about $15 after tip, which felt a bit expensive considering the ice cream is soft serve. The cones were good, and the variety of dips, toppings, and βcoresβ makes for a unique experience that kids and adults alike will enjoy. My biggest disappointment was that the dip never really hardened into the classic shell you expect from a dipped cone. That crunchy shell is part of the appeal, and ours stayed fairly soft throughout. That said, the shop has a lot of charm, the concept is fun, and the atmosphere makes it worth a visit. I think theyβre onto something special and may just have a few kinks to work out. Weβll likely stop by again and try some different combinations.

This place is amazing! Incredibly inclusive of food allergies and just downright delicious ice cream. For dairy-free folks, they have oatmilk based vanilla popsicles and soft-serve. The toppings, dips, and cores are clearly marked when they are vegan, gluten free and dairy free. They're also very knowledgeable about what toppings are soy free. My go-to as a person with soy, dairy, and gluten allergies is a dairy free soft-serve with a raspberry core and a dairy-free chocolate dip, then top it with freeze dried peanut butter candy. Every person I've brought here raves about how delicious theirs was. They also have super fun topping options - including cotton candy :) - about 10 different core options, and even more dip options. Highly recommend!!

I enjoyed my stop here after dinner. It was a solid experience and good. The gentleman working the register walked me through the ordering process and what I received was a good value for the amount spent. If you canβt find anything here you like, I imagine thatβs a hard attempt for you anywhere as they have plenty of options. Certainly worth a visit if youβre looking for a treat, and the courtyard outside is a great place to sit.

Very good! Fun choices. Chefβs touch to ice cream. Had non-dairy ice cream cup with strawberry dip and Nila wafer topping β€οΈ. Great date night idea. Nice patio area to relax and chat over a cone.
